I have gained the most valuable industry experience during my time as Area Supervisor of Marketing at Montclair State University's department of campus recreation. Not only has this position given me hard skills in analytics and audience engagement, but it has given me skills including organization, time management and effective communication.

June is Pride Month! To celebrate, we’re highlighting local athletes that are a part of the LGBTQ+ Community each Friday.

Up first is Derrick Gordon, an American professional basketball player from Plainfield, New Jersey. Gordon came out to his family and teammates in 2014 while he was playing college basketball at the University of Massachusetts. Coming out publicly later that year earned him the title as the first openly gay men’s basketball player in NCAA Division I. He now plays professionally for the Gladiators Trier of the ProA. He continues to push for more LGBTQ+ progress in sports, stating that there is much more to be done for athletes apart of the LGBTQ+ community.

Today for #pridemonth, we're
highlighting American professional soccer players Ali Krieger and Ashlyn Harris. Krieger and Harris both play for NJ/NY Gotham FC of the National Women's Soccer League. The two women often use their platforms to advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, each being a part of it themselves.

Krieger and Harris married in 2019. Since then, they have adopted a daughter together. Both continue to stress the importance of support for LGBTQ+ youth. They aspire to be role models for younger individuals that struggle to be their true selves.

Today’s #pridemonth highlight is Christopher Hicks, professional golfer. He is the first openly gay (male) PGA pro golfer. Hicks is very open about his sexuality and continues to advocate for the LGBTQ+ community. Hi
